Theme: Finance and Industry - Driving Returns

The after effects of the financial crisis that broke out in 2008 are just beginning to appear, with inflation in emerging markets caused by lax monetary policies, the European debt crisis and both increasing unemployment and declining economic growth in the U.S.; all of these problems make the fragile global economic recovery process even more difficult. The most important issues facing decision-makers are shaking off the shadow of the crisis, effectively preventing the next crisis and improving the development of the financial sector so it can better serve corporations.

14:10-15:40  Panel Discussion I: Prospects for the Chinese and Global Economy
While the European and American economies are on a rough path to revival, China is faced with the major task of transforming its economic model. With slow growth of the global economy, China also has an unclear economic outlook: the OECD China Leading indicator has continued to fall for six months. China's manufacturing and service PMI indexes are also slowing down. How do the world's largest two economies, U.S. and China, assess each other? How does the financial sector, the barometer of the world economy, view the global economic trend? What are opportunities and potential pitfalls faced by China's economy? We hope this panel discussion could provide more varied perspectives on these issues.
 What are the challenges and opportunities faced by the Chinese economy?
 What are the challenges and potential remedies for the US and EU economies?
 How should we view the global economic trend in the medium and long run?
  Discussion led by:

15:55-17:25  Panel Discussion II: Global Investment Opportunities amid Turmoil
The after effects of the financial crisis that broke out in 2008 are just beginning to appear. Lax monetary policy is causing inflation in emerging markets. The European debt crisis is worsening. Unemployment continues to be a drag on economic growth in the U.S. These problems make the fragile global economic recovery process even more difficult, and have triggered turbulence in the global financial markets with plummeting market valuations. Amid global market restructuring, investors in the US and China are facing the great challenge of how to capture global investment opportunities, mitigate risks and assure capital appreciation. Communication and cooperation will also be important imperatives for mutual benefits and win-win.
 How could trans-national financial investors and business leaders work together to meet challenges of the current turmoil?
 What are the new investment opportunities in China and in the United States?
 What are the challenges and opportunities for cross-border cooperation to drive better returns?
  Discussion led by:
