CGC Top 100

China Green Companies Top 100, launched by CEC and Daonong Center for Enterprise (DCE) in 2010, is the first green company selection in China. After the appraisal of the initial China Green Benchmark Companies program over the past two years, CGC Top 100 was initiated with marked differences. CGC Top 100 keeps the former program’s international expert team, but revises previous standards and questionnaires, and also improves the selection process. The new criteria and acknowledgement aim to encourage more enterprises to become environmentally and socially responsible. The 333 nominees selected in the first round were publicized on the website, allowing netizens to vote and comment. The final list of Top 100 is selected based on the opinions of both netizens and the expert appraisal committee.

China Green Companies Top 100 was unveiled at the third Annual Summit of China Green Companies in Chengdu, April 22-23, 2010. This list will be released on annual basis hereafter to constantly encourage best practices in business sustainability of Chinese enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises in China.

Enterprises’ performances are evaluated by five major indicators. A green company’s most fundamental element is “cultural leadership”, the source of sustainable development. Further, a green company’s tenacity is rooted in “innovation capacity”. Also, the excellence of green companies is demonstrated in three dimensions: “business advantage”, “environmentally friendly operation” and maintenance of “social harmony”.
