  Mr. Long received his BA Degree in English Language and Literature from Guizhou University in 1965. He had his post graduate study in economics at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 1973 to 1974, and was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Economics. He served as the Director-General of International Affairs Department of Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation(MOFTEC), Vice Minister and Chief Representative for Trade Negotiatoins of MOFTEC. Mr. Long Yongtu was Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia from 2003 to 2010. He is member of the Council of Advisors, Boao Forum for Asia. Mr. Long was awarded the "CCTV Annual Economic Figure of the Year" in 2003. In October 2004, he was entitled a special award by then United Nations Secretary General Mr. Kofi Annan, for his outstanding contribution to promoting the UN-China partnership.
